 At The Herbal and Healing Clinic, we specialise in providing Reiki treatments as part of an ongoing course of treatment or on their own. Reiki is an original method of healing developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. The Japanese word 'Reiki' means universal energy. This is the energy that flows through all things and is the life or vital force. As a therapy, Reiki is an effective way of channeling this energy to a patient and it will accelerate the body's natural healing processes.
The Reiki energy will offer benefits on many levels and will reduce stress and tension and accelerate the healing of physical problems. It will balance the emotional and mental states.
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy that can be used by all without fear of side effects or overdose and is complementary to other treatments. It is increasingly being used in GP surgeries, hospices, prisons and in the care of the elderly.
A healing session is carried out with the patient lying down or sitting in a comfortable environment. There is no need to remove clothing. The practitioner places their hands gently on the patient in a series of positions, either on or over the body, and the patient will draw the energy, using it wherever it is needed.
Although one Reiki session will make a difference, a course of regular treatments is usually necessary.
Graeme Litchfield runs regular workshops at various levels.
First Degree
There are no prerequisites for this workshop which is a beginners level. It takes place over two days and the student is given four attunements and learns how to give treatments to themselves and others.
Second Degree
This can be taken after about three months of working with the Reiki energy. Here the student will receive a further attunement and learn the sacred symbols of the Usui system and how to use them for distance healing and mental emotional treatments.
Advanced Reiki Training
This course can be seen as the Master Practitioner level and the first step towards the Reiki Master training. It is a concentrated one day course and is taken by the experienced practitioner. There is an attunement into the Tibetan-Usui system at the Master Level and a DNA realignment attunement also. The student also learns how to give a healing attunement and various techniques of field cleansing and protection.
Karuna Reiki Levels 1 and 2
This course instructs into the Karuna system providing an additional eight symbols that can be used in healing and transformation. Each level has an attunement and instruction into the use of these symbols in a healing treatment
